Quercus imbricaria (shingle oak)

Quercus imbricaria occurs in the north and southeast of the USA. It likes slightly acidic to neutral, sandy soils in sunny to light-shaded locations. The species is thermophilic and mostly frost-hardy.
The tree grows up to 25 meters high.

The Cherokee often used the bark to treat digestive disorders.
