Description
“Wild olive” (Olea europaea var oleaster) from southern Italy
The “wild olive” (Olea europaea var oleaster) originally comes from the Mediterranean region. It therefore loves a mild climate and direct sunlight.
The hardiness zone is around 9.
Please keep seeds and packaging material away from small children (risk of choking and suffocation).
The seeds come from a collection from November 2024 in southern Italy.
To germinate the seeds, it is recommended that they are first placed in a water bath for 24 hours.
They are then placed in a moist (not wet, not dripping) mixture of soil and sand. It is best to refrigerate them for 40-50 days, they should also be placed outside for a few/different (!) nights (in case of frost). It is recommended to always check if they germinate. After the procedure: In the spring, put in plant pots and grow in a sunny place. However, be careful: young seedlings need slightly shady places in midsummer.
